Jane Austen - The Dancing Years Tour - Follow in her footsteps
Trip Advisor Excellence Award - Celebrating 200 years of Pride & Prejudice.

A unique tour that no serious Jane Austen fan should miss.

During the morning we discover, "The cradle of her genius", exploring the picturesque villages that Jane Austen knew, the site of her birthplace and her father's church at Steventon. We see the country houses where she danced, fell in and out of love, and trace the people Jane Austen mentions in her letters in ancient churches in a landscape remarkably unchanged since the 1770's.

Phil gives a commentary on the social and cultural life of the time and also relays the gossip and stories Jane Austen knew about her neighbours that clearly echo in her novels. Discover her countryside, discover the author and the underlying inspiration especially for Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Northanger Abbey.

We have lunch in a country inn, then take a short drive to the Jane Austen House Museum at Chawton to see where she spent her last years revising and writing the novels, visit the graves of her sister and mother then back to a convenient station for about 4.30pm for your train back to London, or if you are staying locally we can drop you back at your hotel or B&B.

You will leave knowing what influenced her as a young girl, young woman and young author. Re-visiting the books or films will now have much more meaning for you. It's a full Jane Austen day and a comfortable, convenient and entertaining way to see Jane Austen's neighbourhood.

This tour is a wonderful day trip out of London. You can take a train from London Waterloo to Basingstoke (trains depart every fifteen minutes or so) where Hampshire Ambassador Phil Howe will meet you at the railway station at around 10am for your Jane Austen day. Alternatively if you are arriving by car we can meet you at a mutually convenient location. If you are organising a group event we can arrange customised itineraries and evening presentations.

Thank you so much for an incredible day! We learned so much and enjoyed every minute of it! I feel like I know Jane Austen and therefore her characters much more intimately now. I appreciate your answers to all our questions and your stories made the trip that much more enjoyable! Thank you again.
